Never Summer Infinity Snowboard: Who Might Ride It

With equal tip and tail widths, and a stance setback of 0.5 inches, the Never Summer Infinity snowboard is just shy of being a twin of the all-mountain persuasion. While technically we could sort of call it an all-mountain twin, I’m going to stick with the fact that the Infinity has a slight setback and that it feels slightly more directional in nature. Or: it rests perfectly between the two? Yeah, let’s land there.

“...this Never Summer women’s snowboard is all about you if you’re all about a twin-ish all-mountain ride that feels solid underfoot whether carving, popping, or piping.”

So, that having been said, this Never Summer women’s snowboard is all about you if you’re all about a twin-ish all-mountain ride that feels solid underfoot whether carving, popping, or piping. Ummm… while truthful, that was a fucking cheesy way to say this: the Never Summer Infinity is a great fit for intermediate to advanced riders who want one stick to do it all. Ugh, it’s hard to evade the cheese sometimes. But park, pipe, groomers, side-hits, yeah.

The Never Summer Infinity is also supposed to float well in powder. Though, we’ll have to circle back to confirm after the white stuff descends upon this season and we head for the hills with powder fever and stoke and shit.

On-Snow Feel

On a day smeared with rain, fog, and some of the finest spring riding conditions yet, I mounted a set of old Cartels to the Never Summer Infinity and took to the slippery-fast of what was still open at Mt. Bachelor. First run down on the Never Summer Infinity and I could feel it initiating turns expeditiously.

“...I felt like a fucking eagle on a stick.”

Set up with my regular stance of about 22” and 15/15, the Infinity felt like it just wanted to go. I’d say Zippy is the word that comes to mind. And after taking a run through the pipe, my joyous spring riding spot of choice, the Never Summer Infinity soared. I don’t know if it was just the stars aligning or what, but I felt like a fucking eagle on a stick. Bindings for talons. That day, and every subsequent day thereafter, the Never Summer Infinity was my lightening bolt. So, maybe I was more like an eagle with a lightning bolt in its grip. Which is also pretty rad.

With a medium flex and a fair amount of stability at speed, pretty good carving prowess and a respectable jib-ability, the on-snow experience of the Never Summer Infinity is what you would expect from a high-end, quality-made all-mountain women’s snowboard.

Why Steer Clear of this Board

Generally speaking, in mathematics the infinity symbol is used to represent a potential infinity. While mathematics is not my strong suit (yes I know I can learn it, if I only apply myself… thanks, Mr. Winkler), I understand that this “potential infinity” is also called apeiron in ancient Greek, and that apeiron stands in opposition to that which has a limit.

So, while the Never Summer Infinity most closely illustrates apeiron qualities—limitless, boundless, indefinite—across a multitude of riding styles, conditions, and genres, it is not limitless in any one category. Which is totally ok. And the reason it’s an all-mountain ride, or vice versa. And why, if you want to further shine your saber upon, say, any one specific facet of snowboarding, there are a number of other boards just waiting to be your apeiron companion (still not sure if I can use apeiron as an adjective here, but the Greeks made up all sorts of shit, so fuck it).

Why Buy the Never Summer Infinity

Buzz Lightyear said it best: to infinity and beyond. And that's exactly the kind of sentiment you can carry with you while riding the Never Summer Infinity snowboard. Versatile, smooth, and filled with jazz hands, this all-mountain gem shines like a fucking diamond. Especially when cutting up the pipe. Yeah!

Also, I dig the aqueous and earthy graphics on the Infinity. When I look down at the watery and sandy ends of this board, I kinda take a more conscious breath in, then breathe out, and just chill.

Final Notes On The Never Summer Infinity

Remember, the pre-Socratic Greek philosopher, Anaximander, believed that “infinite worlds are generated from apeiron and then they are destroyed there again.” Take from old Anaximander what you must and what you will. And ride on, sister. From and into and beyond infinity.
